When David Evans silk printing factory in Crayford closed in 2001, Bexley Heritage Trust rescued many pieces of silk history from the skip. This exhibition showcases 150 years of pattern history from the David Evans archives including work for Liberty’s, Elizabeth Emmanuel, Holland and Holland and Sir Elton John. The exhibition also features work made by today’s designers inspired by the archive including work by J W Anderson for Topshop. This exhibition is packed full of print magic so hurray along to see it before it closes on the March 16 2014.

The history of art in 20th century textiles is traced in the new exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum with work by Alexander Calder, Salvador Dalí, Sonia Delaunay, Barbara Hepworth, and Henri Matisse.
Artist Textiles engaged ordinary people with modern art in a personal and intimate way through their clothing and home furnishings. With over 200 rare pieces, many of which have not been on public display before this is an exhibition not to be missed !

This week Kangan Arora is launching her new collection of exclusive screen printed textiles at Heal’s – one of London’s finest furniture stores, with a long history of collaboration with leading contemporary designers. The new limited edition cushions are designed and hand screen-printed in London and beautiful quilted and embroidered by master craftsmen of Northern India.
To celebrate the launch of the collection Kangan will be running in-store screen printing demonstrations at Heal’s, Tottenham Court Road as part of the Modern Craft Market. You can hand screen print your own tote bags from 12pm onwards on 4th, 5th, 9th, 14th and 15th February.
Textiles Collective Kalopsia open their latest exhibition showcasing contemporary textiles work from around the world this weekend in Edinburgh. The exhibition runs from the 1 – 15 February 2014 in their new gallery space in Ocean Terminal, Leith, Edinburgh.

Bold 1980s London fashion is currently on show at the V&A with 85 outfits by the most experimental young designers of the decade, including Betty Jackson, Katharine Hamnett, Wendy Dagworthy and John Galliano. The show closes on the 16 February 2014 so get to the V&A quick to brighten up your January !

The Thames Barrier Print Studio have just announced the dates for their Open Studio this year. The studio is part of the Second Floor Studios and Arts. The studio will be open to the public on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November from 11am – 6pm. Find out more information here.
